The Sorceress is the 12th job of Minute Frontier.

Overview[]

The Sorceress is a magic user that wears a long white dress that is shrouded by long blue hair at the bottom. On their head are two white horns that appear to jut out both sides. The job is unlocked at the beginning of the game, but must be changed over to inside a Temple.

Strategy[]

The Sorceress is a job that has some fundamental flaws for the game they are added into, being best known for their unique ability Bless Recovery, allowing players to heal whenever they gain a character level. Whenever a player levels up, Bless Recovery heals them for +20 HP for every level invested into the Sorceress job. On a per level basis, this technically makes Bless Recovery the most efficient form of healing per level invested, beating out the Vampire's Bloodsucker ability by 12 HP.

It all goes wrong with the implementation, as leveling up in MinuteFrontier may be common, but extremely inconsistent as a basis for a healing source. It acts much more as a pleasant bonus alongside the level up, whereas all other forms of healing in the game is far more consistent, as well as better suited for sustaining the player as they progress through the game.

As the player continues playing the game, level ups become more EXP intensive. With every level accumulating +10 EXP required to successfully level up, it becomes a very real concern to optimize play and to not excessively spend levels on jobs that are not beneficial to the player. Eventually an end-game player will reach a point where the Vampire's Bloodsucker ability will vastly outperform Bless Recovery, as gaining one level would translate to defeating dozens of enemies. With more levels there is also the consideration that further progression translates to greater HP pools, meaning the +20 HP will only become more and more insignificant without continued leveling of the Sorceress specifically.

The Sorceress being such a minor accessory directly hurts their own ability, as leveling up the Sorceress makes all future levels harder as well. Ultimately this feeling of not wanting to waste levels, but also needing to invest more levels in order to keep the healing effect relevant is an act of self-sabotage, torpedoing the Sorceress' main appeal as a healing source.

For being a job with healing source, the Sorceress is cursed with some of the harshest penalties of all the jobs with infinitely scaling abilities. Abilities are unfairly sparse, with the Sorceress only providing two other abilities far too deep into the job progression, requiring a troubling amount of dedication to the job to unlock them. What's left are moderately fine base weapon bonuses for the Bow, Staff, and Dice, as well as a stat growth of only seven points. At the very least, having seven points to allocate is better than the lowest stat growth of the other healing jobs, but it's not much of an achievement to only be slightly better than the worst possible scenario.
